It's Grammy's Day!

Today is Grammy's birthday and like many days, she is giving of herself in Waco helping Michelle with her new baby girls. I could write and write and write and not have enough words to express how wonderful my mother is, Grammy to our boys and new triplet nieces.

She is always there when we need her, she thinks in a very level-headed way, she is the rock of our family, the glue that holds us together, the one that smooths things out when it gets rough. She is intelligent in a way that we cannot describe, she is creative beyond belief. She not only takes care of our dad, us girls and our husbands and our children, but she takes care of her own mother (our Mimi) doing her laundry, keeping her supplied with all her favorite things to keep her comfortable in her nursing home while she sits pretty in her "Cadillac" of beds! Mom has taught me how to be the best wife that I can be to Clark, how to listen and when to chime in and when to sit silent. She is classy and cute! She loves to give. She is always one step ahead (or more)! She is kind and considerate. My list could go on and on!

I asked CJ what he would like to tell Grammy if he could tell her anything he wanted...He said, "I would like to tell her that I want to give her a big race car for a prize!" Race cars are the prizes of prizes!

She is the mother of all mothers!

These are a few snapshots of Grammy!

If she could be anywhere during this time in her life, I know it would be right where she is at!

Happy Birthday Mom (Grammy)!!

Peyton's Day

Peyton Daniel Miller
Sunday was Peyton's baby dedication at our church. Grammy and Pop and Aunt Mandy were able to attend. As most of you know, when Mark was 2 1/2 months old we found out that God had another blessing for us on the way. We had no idea what little blessing of a surprise that He had for us. Peyton was born 11 months and 3 weeks after Mark! He is probably the most smiliest and talkative baby that we have had. I don't think its because we finally figured out what we were doing with three boys, I think its because he is simply a joy-filled baby. Here is our Peyton.

Our big giggler...

This is why we call him "Monkey"!

Clark and I don't seem to remember CJ ever climbing on top of things near as much as our "monkey" Marky! I remember having to watch CJ quite a bit, but I do remember being able to go out of the room for more than a few minutes and know that he was not climbing up the walls. Mark is a completely different story.

I was giving Mark and Peyton a bath while Clark was outside letting CJ drive his little truck. I got Mark out of the bath and thought I could let him loose for a few minutes while I finished with Peyton. Well, letting him loose was just not in the cards for Mark. After letting him down from the bed, I went to get Peyton and start to dry him off. I laid Peyton on the bed because Mark was pretty quite so I knew that he was up to something. It had only been maybe 30 seconds. I went into the living room and found him on top of the entertainment center beating on the TV screen.
I calmly got him down and went back to Peyton.
Another 30 seconds passed and I thought I better go check on him again. I found him in Peyton's cradle turning the mobile on and off. Again, I got him out and went back to Peyton because I still had not finished lathering him up with lotion! A few minutes later I heard Mark in the kitchen but I wasn't sure what he was doing. You would think the child was starving but clearly, he's no where near hungry-he's a bit on the hefty side but this is how I found him. On a chair, looking in the fridge for anything edible.

Who knows what happened to the diaper! Again, I got him down and out of the fridge and went back to Peyton for the third time. I guess Mark thought that downstairs was not the place to be and that if he really wanted some free time he better go upstairs. Well, this time I finished with Peyton and couldn't find Mark so I went upstairs. I looked in all the rooms and couldn't find him. Then I heard something coming from his bathroom. He had climbed up on the counter and was sitting very cozily in his sink chewing on his toothbrush
[I didn't have my camera upstairs, sorry!]-I guess the leftover, dried up toothpaste tasted good.
By now, those that are following this blog know there is a common issue that we all have in this house...we are suckers for sweet things! Edible or not so edible!
So...this is why we call him "monkey"!!

Don't say it, if you don't mean it!

A little piece of our CJ's "sweet"heart!

Most days, I get through the day by staying on CJ's good side...as if he is giving me some sort of grade throughout the day. Its not what I try to do for sure since he has to be disciplined and I have to say "no" when I think he's out of line.

Yesterday he wanted M&M's at 9:00 in the morning and although I could probably eat M&M's at any time too, I didn't think a snack like this was necessary until maybe after lunch. He got pretty upset with me and said, "Mommy, you're a mean mommy." Of course, I didn't take it to heart.

Then later in the day, it was nap time and well he didn't like that either but this time it was, "Mommy, you're a bad mommy." I didn't take this to heart either. As I made him lay down for his nap I told him that the things he had been saying throughout the day were not very nice and that he shouldn't say things he doesn't mean. We've all been accused of that so better now to start teaching him not to do it. He didn't say anything but he sort of stroked my cheek and I knew he was sorry.

After his 2 hour nap he woke up and wanted to eat something "sugary" and I told him it was too close to dinner and he didn't like that either but he didn't say anything he didn't mean this time. He pouted for a bit then said he wanted "one of those turkey sandwiches with that, that good crust." I knew he wanted a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich and I agreed that would be a good dinner so he helped me make it and as he sat down to eat it, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, you're a real good mommy. Do you know that?" He's learned well, since every time I really want him to know and remember something that I have praised him for, I always ask him, "Do you know that?" An A+ at the end of the day from my "sweet"heart!

Pink Thing?

Tonight I sat down with CJ to eat some ice cream with him-just the two of us after I put Marky and Peyton to bed. I was wearing a t-shirt and CJ asked, "Mommy, what's that pink thing on your shirt for?" I thought, "Hummm how am I supposed to explain this to a 3 year old?"
So I did the best I could because I do want him to know how important it is to our family and to many others.
Me: "This is a pink ribbon for people who have had breast cancer." "You know, Grammy had that but she's better now."
C.J. "What's breast cancer?"
Me: "It's when mommys have had things in their boobies that make them sick".
C.J. "That pink thing is on TV."
Me: "Yes, that's because they have fundraisers to raise money for people who have breast cancer."
C.J. "So they can doctor them?"
Me: "Yes, yes! So they can get better you are right! "
C.J.: "Mommy, I am sooo smart!"

Homemade Haircuts, Triplet Update, Who's the Ham?

HOMEMADE HAIRCUTS

One of the great things about having boys is doing haircuts at home-why pay a barber when I had enough practice on my dolls when I was little? Marky was already in the bathtub after his haircut by the time I got the camera ready.

CQQKIE MONSTER

I am suprised it has taken me all day to finally post one of the funniest blog posts since my blogging existence...

Yesterday I was going to play bunco with some of the girls from the neighborhood. While CJ was at preschool, I decided that I would make some sugar cookies and decorate them during nap time. Before I put CJ down for his nap, he grabbed a cookie from the stove and just shoved it in his mouth and with his hand to his tummy he said, "Sorry Mommy, they are just sooooo good."

I have a love for sugar cookies too but his looked completely uncontrollable. I told him no snacks after nap since he had his cookie before nap...At about 4:30 I received a phone call that even though CJ was up from his nap, I decided to take the call. I was going from the kitchen to the bedroom while talking on the phone and at one point I ended up at the bar going into the kitchen and was completely stopped in my tracks. I looked at the stove and half the cookies on the sheet were completely gone. Remember, I was on the phone so I couldn't yell for CJ but I really wanted to cry-not only because they were my cookies and now they are ruined...but also that he had just eaten way too many cookies for a 3 year old. As I finally got over the shock, I walked further into the kitchen and this is what I found at the backdoor...

my cookies, half eaten and piled at the backdoor. Why? Did they all taste "soooo" good that he had to try all of them? If I hadn't caught him then, he probably would have kept climbing on the stove, taking bites out of every single one of my cookies. But this isn't the best part of the story.

Clark got home about 30 minutes later and as I was telling him the cookie story I heard CJ yell from the bathroom. I opened the door, and what I saw was not something I cared to take a picture of. (Forgive the language you are about to read but you all know you would want to say the same things)...The first thought that came to my mind was, "Look at this s*** storm". Poop on the walls, poop on CJ's hands and poopy tollete paper stuck between his little bo-bo cheeks. He looked up at me and said, "I didn't mean to get diarrhea mommy." I went into clean up mode-but only for a few seconds...I walked out of the bathroom and said to Clark, "This one is yours!"

Well Visits

Today Mark and Peyton had well visits at the pediatrician...Mark 15 month and Peyton 4 month visit. Here are the big boy stats...

Mark

26 pounds and his height was 32.5 inches. No murmur was heard...he still had the murmur at his 12 month visit so this very good! He is around the 70-80 percentile in both weight and height. He got his flu shot and Hib vaccine which made him quite upset :(

Peyton

17.7 pounds and his height was 27.5 inches. His murmur is still at a stage 1 which is very, very mild. His weight is at the 70-80 percentile but his height is off the charts at the average height for an 8 month old...he's 4 months!! All of our boys have been big (70-80 percentile at most visits) but none of them at this point have measured off the charts. He got 2 shots as well :(

It was pretty tough trying to console both of them while they screamed from their shots but once we got in the car they just crashed!

As far as what's new with our C.J...he came home from pre-school today and I asked him what he learned in school and he started to sing the ABC song! I was quite impressed and glad they are learning! We called Daddy to let him listen then I asked him if there was anyone else he wanted to sing it to...he said, "Uncle Brent". He seems to be becoming quite the ring leader in class...just hope none of his friends learn anything too terrible from him! He talks alot about Luke and said the other day that Luke was his "Best Friend"!

It's so hard to say, "No" :)

CJ loves to sleep with his mommy! Every night he tries to melt my heart into saying yes to his "nuggling" and every night its hard for me to say no. So last night, he tried to convince Clark that Clark could sleep in his bed and CJ could "nuggle" with me because mommy's bed is "cozy, mozy". I asked him why he always wants to sleep with me and his response was, "Because I love you so much mommy." And with his hand to his heart he said, "and Jesus and God in my heart love you mommy." "Mommy, everybody loves you." So how I could I say no to that?

Proud Mamma

Today was C.J.'s first day of Little Sluggers. This morning I was questioning whether it was really a good idea to start something new since it is difficult to get everyone dressed and ready to go (without chaos) in order to get anywhere on time.
So that I could get dressed, I let Mark play with CJ in his room. After about 15 minutes, CJ came down and in a panic mumbled something about his lamp in his room. Marky managed to break the lightbulb in CJ's lamp and was on top of CJ's table playing with the glass from the lightbulb. Just one of those minor disturbances that seem to happen everyday!
We made it to class on time and I have to say, I am glad that we decided to take part in Little Sluggers. This is a program that teaches the fundamentals of baseball. I guess its the competitiveness I have in sports that made me jump up and holler "Good Job" and "Yeyyyyyy CJ!" while the other mothers sat still on the bench. Sitting quietly on a sideline bench is nothing I have been accustomed to.
CJ did so great, I mean I was ecstatic he did so well and I couldn't tell him enough how proud I was of him. I started to wonder if the other kids were much younger than CJ but when I asked the coach he said they were all 3 years old but the part that brought a huge smile to my face was when the coach said, "Not all kids are natural athletes like CJ and his brothers look like they will follow suit." WOW, I can't imagine when he gets old enough to be on teams...gamedays will be so much FUN!

Teaching them Young!

Those of you who have children, you know that you want them to have everything they ask for and more but then you start to feel somewhat guilty when every time you go to the store you happen to find something new for them-even if you don't find it until you reach the tempting but often meaningless items at the checkout counter (otherwise known as crap!).

So what better time than a rainy day to teach some lessons...
Saturday C.J. brought down his little money pouch and asked if Clark could put some money in it...Clark said, I can give you a job to earn some money for that pouch. I could hear CJ ask why he needed to do a job and I heard Clark explain to him that he goes to work everyday so that he can earn money for the family. CJ started to understand as much as a 3-year old is able and said, "Ok Daddy, then can I have some "jobs"? Clark had already done most of the picking up around the house, as is pretty normal for a Saturday morning so I looked into the bedroom and saw that it sure would be nice to have our bed made. Perfect job! I called CJ into the bedroom and told him he could earn his money by making my bed and putting all the pillows in their respective spots. He did a wonderful job and the pics below are to show his work-and of course, toot Marky on the bed laughing and about to mess up his brother's work! CJ earned $25 cents!

My New Triplet Nieces

Most of you know that my younger sister Michelle had triplet girls September 5th. I wanted to post the birth announcements of my new nieces as well as updated pics once they had their lines removed. Addison and Reagan are identical and Baylee is their fraternal triplet who looks so much like her daddy already!! They are doing well and we can't wait for them to be home so that we can get to know these sweet little girls!

Rookie Blogger

Well today I decided that I would finally make a post to my new blog...I feel like a real rookie! WOW, I got the boys all down for their naps, Mark in his room, Peyton in the cradle and CJ laying next to me, snoring with his sweaty feet touching my leg so that I don't get up and leave him! I had been typing and making changes to my layout and boom, like clockwork 45 minutes into Peyton's nap he wakes up crying. Don't know what to do about this "45-minute Intruder" thing other than go back in and cover him up, turn his sound machine on and tuck his frog pacie back in his mouth. Now he's off to sleep again and so far, no one else has decided to wake up early! Maybe I'll get another 30 minutes of silence before all the "toots" are up again!
